NIGHT
WAITING
UNFADING
PRESENCE
As the shadows grow,
dreams appear.
Light and shadow, reality and fiction,
merge into a dance of inescapable partners
creating a set of graduations of the same entity
in which the mystery is brewing.
We live longing,
Imagining,
Waiting for the perfect moment.
We live without looking up,
Without knowing that we are
Who make the moment perfect
Like a dreamcatcher I am capturing moments that do not belong to me. Moments with soul. A soul that catches my attention. A soul that dies out before my eyes before withering away.
In the desire to make the transitory enduring, I want to delve into the intangible. And tied to the surface, I aspire to touch the deepest, transmit the hidden, that which makes me wish that the apparent beauty of a moment does not succumb to the oceans of time.
It is then when the lights, the shadows, the textures, the essence and the time act as verses in the poetry of the moment.
My idea is to play with the restlessness of presence.
When there is a character, it always takes on a great weight within the image. The force of his presence captures all the attention. However, my intention is to represent lonely and absent characters. Characters who ignore the world around them and divest themselves of it, abstracting, for a moment, their world, their thinking, so that the force of this presence moves away from the spectator and vanishes. This embarks me in the world of the character, which causes me many sensations and questions. What will he do? Where will he go? What is he thinking? Waiting ... Meanwhile, the environment welcomes him and shapes it, it gives meaning to his presence.
And in the absence of presence, there is the concern that something has to happen. And while nothing happens, the scene poses. That which, in the presence of a figure, is usually stage, gains strength, takes shape, acquires weight and it is its lights, its shadows, its forms, its colour that gives presence to that absence. Suddenly, it is the light that covers the scene that comes to live, the air that flutters, the heat, the cold, in short, it is the environment that gives presence to an empty landscape, but how difficult it is to paint the environment! Something intangible, a feeling, a sensation, that ‘something’ that makes you paint one thing and not another one.
